Some children have special needs. On Bornholm there are three special schools: Kildebakkeskolen, Heldagsskolen and Dybdalsskolen.

- Heldagsskolen in Østermarie is for children who are challenged with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and/or emotional challenge (it is in Danish): bornholmsheldagsskole (aula.dk)
- Dybdalsskolen in Klemensker is for young people in 7th-9th grade who deals with educational and social issues (it is in Danish): ungbornholm.dk/Heltidsundervisning/Dybdal.
