If you wish to homeschool your child, you, as a parent, are responsible for ensuring that the homeschooling meets the standards generally required in public schools. The Center for Children and Learning, provides the child with the supervises homeschooling to ensure that the education meets the requirements set out in the
Public School Act. It is essential that homeschooling, based on an overall assessmente same opportunities for well-rounded personal development and knowledge acquisition as if the child had attended public school.
It is not a requirement that homeschooling includes instruction in all public school subjects. However, education must be provided within each of the mandatory subject areas, which can be divided into humanities, natural sciences, and practical-creative subjects. As a minimum requirement, the subjects Danish, mathematics, and English must be identifiable.
This follows from the provisions in the Executive Order on Free Schools and Private Primary Schools, § 9a, point 1, which describes the supervisor’s oversight of students’ proficiency in these subjects.
According to the Executive Order on Free Schools and Private Primary Schools, establishing homeschooling requires you to notify the Center for Children and Learning, Development, Coordination, and Guidance before the education begins. You will then be invited to an expectation-setting meeting with the central supervisor. Only after this meeting will you receive final approval for homeschooling.
